There is a common saying on Wall Street that you look to buy the "picks and shovels" providers in any big trend.

The concept comes from the California Gold Rush of the 1840s and 1850s, when thousands of prospectors came to seek their fortune.

Almost all of them had no success at all and lost everything.

Everyone, though, had to buy the picks and shovels to prospect. The companies that sold that equipment made money no matter who found the gold!

Being a company that helps build infrastructure for other companies can be a gold mine itself.
